Yarn Along 2015.18: Still Not Done

Joining Ginny for the weekly Yarn Along today.

My Barn Sweater is off the needles!  But it's still not done. :O(

Not done because. . . although I finished all the knitting while I was journeying to and from DS2's college graduation this past weekend (for some pics, see yesterday's post), I didn't realize the pattern assumes that you know how to seam sleeves knit flat--which I don't--and have sewn down pocket linings before--which I haven't--and instructs you to 'seam sleeves  and sew pocket linings, then block and sew on buttons' without actually describing how to do these steps.

I've never seamed sleeves.  Was sitting in a cabin in the Upper Peninsula with no cell phone service, let alone internet, when I realized I could not finish the sleeves until I got home.  Ditto with the pocket linings.  Oh well.  All the knitting was done. That's got to count for something, right?  I mean, I knit an adult sized sweater!!  No real biggie if I couldn't finish it until after returning home.  After all, I couldn't very well block it in the wilderness, now could I?  Plus, I'd forgotten my buttons at home, and my blocking pins.

What I didn't realize at the time was how much stuff I would have to catch up on when I got home.  And that it would take me until Tuesday evening to even look up how to seam the sleeves and sew the pocket linings.  Or that Wednesday would come and the sweater would still look like it had on Sunday afternoon.

Oh well.

I present to you my still not done, but getting closer to being done, Barn Sweater.  I just need to finish the sleeves, do the pocket linings, weave in the ends, block it (although it fits pretty good now; I couldn't resist trying it on once I had both sleeves knit), and sew on my buttons of choice.  A pretty accomplishable list of tasks for this next week, I think.

severely in need on blocking,
the sleeves really are the same length, honest
